LOS ANGELES (AP) – UCLA has agreed to a six-year contract extension with head coach Jim Mora through 2019.
The Bruins announced the deal Tuesday night, fending off advances to Mora by Washington, his alma mater.
Mora is 18-8 in two seasons at UCLA, returning the football program to national prominence heading into the Bruins’ second straight trip to a bowl game.
UCLA routed rival Southern California 35-14 at the Coliseum on Saturday, Mora’s second straight win over the Trojans.
Mora was a walk-on defensive back at Washington, and once described the school as his dream job. The Huskies have a coaching vacancy after Steve Sarkisian left Monday for USC.
UCLA won the Pac-12 South last season and finished second this year (9-3, 6-3).
