AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp says he’s “going to be at Texas” amid speculation that he could be a candidate for the Notre Dame head coaching job.
Muschamp and the No. 3 Longhorns are preparing for the Big 12 championship game against Nebraska. Told Monday that he had been mentioned as a possible candidate to replace fired Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis, Muschamp said he’s staying put and doesn’t plan to talk to other schools.
Muschamp is in his second year with the Longhorns. His contract puts him in line to be Texas’ next head coach. Coach Mack Brown has seven years left on his contract and has said he has no plans to retire.
