BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -LSU is investigating possible violations involving an assistant football coach and a member of the team that has not played this season.
Athletic director Joe Alleva, in a statement late Monday, confirmed the probe.
“Compliance issues are routinely monitored by our compliance staff and LSU is currently researching possible violations involving one assistant coach and one student-athlete in the sport of football,” Alleva said. “The involved student-athlete has not participated in competition for LSU.
“By procedure, the Southeastern Conference office has been made aware of this circumstance by LSU. Privacy concerns for the university employee and the student-athlete preclude further comment at this time.”
Monday night – that even though the investigation is ongoing, it should not result in any possible game forfeitures because the player in question has not competed this season.
LSU finished its regular season 9-3 with an overtime victory against Arkansas on Saturday.
