NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -No. 14 Oklahoma may be borrowing a page from No. 10 Oklahoma State, just in time for their showdown this weekend.
Offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen jazzed up Oklahoma State’s running game with a three-back set to go along with a spread passing game that’s proven to be one of the best in the nation.
The Sooners (9-2, 5-2 Big 12) unveiled the same formation during a 53-24 victory at Baylor last week. It resulted in three first-half touchdowns and eliminated red zone issues that popped up in a loss at Texas A&M their last time on the road.
Oklahoma offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson isn’t hiding that he copied the formation from the rival Cowboys (10-1, 6-1). Holgorsen says it’s only natural to see what’s working for other teams and try to use it.
