MIAMI (AP) -Back in August, Miami coach Randy Shannon predicted the Atlantic Coast Conference race would last until the final week of the season. The Hurricanes have a chance to prove him right.
There’s only one way for No. 24 Miami to have a chance at winning the ACC’s Coastal Division title, and it starts with the Hurricanes beating No. 14 Virginia Tech on Saturday.
Otherwise, the Hokies will clinch another trip to the ACC title game, and move closer toward returning to the Orange Bowl on Jan. 3. After starting the season with losses to powerful Boise State and less-than-powerful James Madison, Virginia Tech has won eight straight, outscoring opponents 304-137.
If Virginia Tech loses Saturday, they still can win the division by topping Virginia next weekend.
