CINCINNATI (AP) -A judge has warned University of Cincinnati sophomore quarterback Zach Collaros (koh-LAHR’-us) that he could spend the bowl season in jail.
Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Bernie Bouchard (Boo-SHAHRD’) scolded Collaros for failing to begin a court-ordered program on underage drinking. Bouchard told Collaros he has until Dec. 7 to do so or face jail time.
Collaros’ attorney said Thursday he would begin the program right away after being distracted for a few weeks.
He started four games for the unbeaten, fifth-ranked Bearcats while senior Tony Pike recovered from an arm injury.
Collaros was 20 when cited for presenting a fake ID to get into a bar. Completing the diversionary program would allow him to have the case dismissed and record sealed.
Bouchard says Collaros, who’s now 21, needs to grow up.
