INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -The Black Coaches and Administrators says it is concerned that only nine of the 120 schools in the Football Bowl Subdivision have coaches of color.
The BCA’s new report card, issued Wednesday, gives A’s to 11 of 32 schools that hired football coaches following the 2008 season. Eight earned D’s or F’s.
The report includes a proposal to implement a Diversity Progress Rate similar to the NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate.
The study also found that the percentage of minorities on search committees at FBS schools declined from 30 percent in the 2008 report to 27 percent this year.
