STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -Penn State is sticking with Matt McGloin at quarterback for Saturday’s game against Indiana.
McGloin had two interceptions returned for touchdowns in the second half of last week’s 24-point loss at No. 8 Ohio State, but coach Joe Paterno said Tuesday he played well overall, especially for a redshirt sophomore.
Tailback Evan Royster also expects to play against the Hoosiers after a minor left knee injury last week.
But an inconsistent Nittany Lions defense likely will be without perhaps its best player in sophomore linebacker Michael Mauti because of a right shoulder injury. Paterno’s defense has been ravaged by injuries this season.
At 6-4, two more wins can solidify Penn State’s chances for a New Year’s Day bowl game.
