HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) -Southern Mississippi coach Larry Fedora has met with three players hospitalized after a shooting at a club and says they apologized for “letting the team down.”
Fedora declined to discuss specifics Monday after visiting with the players, who were reported in fair condition after Sunday’s shooting.
Martez Smith, Tim Green and Deddrick Jones were shot at Remington’s Hunt Club at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday after a fight began in the club and spilled into the parking lot, Hattiesburg police said.
Smith and Jones talked to Fedora, but the coach says Green wrote his message because he can’t speak due to his injuries.
More information on their injuries weren’t disclosed. No arrests have been made and police haven’t commented on possible suspects.
