DOVER, Del. (AP) -Jarrett Dunston scored from 8 yards out with 4:19 to play to seal a 27-26 comeback victory for Winston-Salem against Delaware St. on Saturday.
Dunston completed 5 of 10 passes for 97 yards with two interceptions, adding 16 yards and two scores on nine carries for the Rams (3-6).
Kareem Jones rushed for a career-high 230 yards on 35 carries and scored once on a 14-yard reception for the Hornets (3-6).
The Hornets could have retaken a lead on a 37-yard field goal with 33 seconds left in the game but Vashon Winton, who threw for 145 yards and three touchdowns, ran the ball instead on fourth-and-1 and was stopped.
After trailing 26-14 at the half, Winston-Salem’s Nicolas Cooper scored from 9 yards out to cut the Hornets’ lead to 26-21 with 3:37 left in the third quarter.
ick Jones put the Hornets up 19-14 with 3:08 in the half.
Winston-Salem held Delaware State scoreless in the second half, setting up the comeback.
