OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -A series of goal line failures has Oklahoma trailing in the Big 12 South race and out of the national championship picture.
The 19th-ranked Sooners (7-2, 3-2 Big 12) were stuffed inside the 2-yard line on three separate drives in a 33-19 loss to Texas A&M on Saturday night, leaving them a game behind rival Oklahoma State in the standings.
Offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson says he regrets that he didn’t try more passing plays at the goal line, but the Sooners thought they should have been able to punch it in with their running game. Wilson says he ran the gamut of Oklahoma’s goal line offense without success.
He says the Sooners have continuing problems in having too few points to show for all the yardage and offensive plays they’re compiling.
