BUIES CREEK, N.C. (AP) - Campbell has fired football coach Dale Steele amid a seven-game losing streak.
The school announced Monday Steele's firing will be effective at the end of the season and that he will coach the Camels' final two games.
Steele was hired in 2006 when Campbell announced the relaunch of its football program after a 50-year absence. The Camels began play two years later.
He is 14-39 overall and 9-29 in the nonscholarship Pioneer Football League. The Camels were 1-8 overall and 0-6 in league play this season and gave up 70 points twice during their current slide.
Steele is in his fifth season and says coaches are measured by results and ``this year has been difficult in the growth of our program.''
The will begin its coaching search immediately.
