BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) – Defending national champion Alabama can keep alive its hopes of repeating with a victory over LSU in Tiger Stadium on Saturday.
The meeting of the fifth-ranked Crimson Tide and No. 12 Tigers sets up a traditional Southeastern Conference clash of two of the better running games and defenses in the league.
Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson have helped the Tide averaged 187 yards rushing per game, while LSU averages 179 yards in the ground, led by Stevan Ridley.
Both teams rank in the top two in the SEC in total defense and scoring defense.
Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy calls Tiger Stadium his favorite college football venue. Alabama has lots of fond memories of Death Valley, where the Tide is 24-6-2.
