EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -Seventh-ranked Oregon has found its way into national prominence by forgetting its season opener and focusing on each subsequent game.
The Ducks were ranked 16th going into the season with what was believed to be one of the nation’s most formidable and innovative offenses. But they nose-dived with a 19-8 loss to Boise State on national television.
Adding insult to injury, running back LeGarrette Blount punched Byron Hout in the aftermath of the loss, bringing the Broncos’ defensive end to his knees.
But, by moving ahead on a game-to-game basis, the Ducks have won each of their games since that loss. Oregon now sits atop the Pacific-10 Conference standings as the league’s only undefeated team.
