GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -Florida sophomore quarterback Cameron Newton slightly injured his neck in a car crash, but coach Urban Meyer said Wednesday that Tim Tebow’s backup would be fine.
Meyer said the car in which Newton was riding was rear-ended Tuesday. Newton was wearing a neck brace Wednesday, and Meyer said he was still sore.
“He has a deal with some headaches involved with it, too,” Meyer said.
Newton has appeared in just one game this season, completing one of two passes for 14 yards and rushing for 10 yards on five carries against Hawaii on Aug. 30.
Meyer said Newton would travel to Nashville, where No. 4 Florida (7-1, 5-1 SEC) plays Vanderbilt (5-2, 3-2) on Saturday.
