COLUMBIA, MO. (AP) – The arrests of 30 Missouri Tiger fans among thousands who stormed the school’s football field after the victory over Oklahoma are drawing critics and claims of hypocrisy.
Those questioning the trespassing arrests after Saturday’s victory say the university hypocritically tried to profit by selling pictures of the celebration and posted photos online. By Wednesday, the photos were removed from the university’s website.
Critics of the arrests also want the university to explain why just 30 people were arrested.
School officials have insisted that swarming onto the field carried serious safety risks, and that fans had ample warning arrests may happen. It says only 30 people were arrested because that’s the number that could have been with the number of officers the department had on the field.
