SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) – At least two universities will look at adopting specific policies for hydraulic video lifts after a Notre Dame student was killed when one of the machines toppled over in high winds.
Officials at Wyoming and North Carolina said Thursday they will consider specific guidelines for the lifts, some of which can extend to 40 feet high.
Twenty-year-old Declan Sullivan died Wednesday. He was filming football practice at Notre Dame as winds in the area were gusting to 51 mph.
Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick says the university will review its protocol for sending people up in the temporary towers.
