STORRS, Conn. (AP) -Connecticut State Police say there are “significant developments” in the investigation into the fatal stabbing of a University of Connecticut football player.
Police have scheduled an early afternoon news conference at the university to discuss the case.
Twenty-year-old Jasper Howard was fatally stabbed early Oct. 18 outside a school dance. The stabbing was hours after Howard helped the Huskies to a homecoming game win over Louisville. His funeral was Monday in Miami.
One man faces charges of breach of peace and interfering with police, but has not been charged in the killing. Police this weekend searched storm drains and a lake on campus but wouldn’t say what they were looking for.
