STORRS, Conn. (AP) -A defense attorney says his client has been arrested in connection with a fight that led to the fatal stabbing of a University of Connecticut football player.
Attorney Deron Freeman says John William Lomax, of Bloomfield, was arrested Tuesday morning. Freeman says he doesn’t know the charge, but says his client isn’t being charged with stabbing 20-year-old Jasper Howard.
Freeman says he expects Lomax to be arraigned Wednesday.
Police have scheduled an early afternoon news conference to announce what they call “significant developments” in the investigation.
Howard was fatally stabbed early Oct. 18 outside a school dance. The stabbing was hours after Howard helped the Huskies to a homecoming game win over Louisville. His funeral was Monday in Miami.
