BOSTON (AP) – Boston College has had enough success against Maryland to hope that Saturday’s game will be the end of the Eagles’ four-game losing streak.
A victory would also give BC (2-4, 0-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) its first league win since beating the Terrapins in College Park on Thanksgiving weekend last year. In all, BC has beaten Maryland (4-2, 1-1) four times in five tries since joining the ACC, and the Terrapins have never won in Chestnut Hill.
“It is never easy to win on the road. I think that the younger your team is, the more difficult it is to do so,” said Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen, who like his BC counterpart is starting a freshman at quarterback. “But I know we are capable. It’s about time we start maturing and be able to do that – that is our next big component as a team.”
Maryland, which did win at Foxboro Stadium in 1985, has yet to win on the road this season.
