WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) – A lawyer says three New York college football players were brutalized by police when they tried to help a teammate who had been fatally shot by an officer.
Attorney Bonita Zelman tells The Associated Press that one player begged police to let him perform CPR. She says an officer put a gun in his ribs, threatened to shoot him and arrested him. She says two other players were subdued by stun gun.
Zelman said Wednesday the players told her that Danroy Henry of Easton, Mass., lay dying and handcuffed on the pavement with no one helping him.
Police say Henry was shot early Sunday when he sped off in his car, striking two officers who had responded to a bar disturbance.
Mount Pleasant police did not immediately return a message left by the AP.
