SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -Xavier Joe scored on a 46-yard fumble return and Stadford Brown passed for 179 yards and a touchdown to lead North Carolina Central to a 30-14 victory over Savannah State on Saturday.
Joe’s return gave Central (6-2) a 13-7 lead in the second quarter and Brown’s 51-yard scoring pass to Brandon Alston five seconds before halftime put NCCU ahead to stay at 20-14.
Savannah State (1-6) scored on Greg McCrary’s 25-yard run in the first quarter and McCrary’s 38-yard scoring pass to Deleon Hollinger, who had three catches for 141 yards, in the second. McCrary passed for 186 yards, but had two interceptions.
Central also got three field goals from Taylor Gray covering 20, 28 and 27 yards. It’s other touchdown came on a 14-yard run by Justin Campbell in the third period.
