STORRS, Conn. (AP) -Connecticut football players held hands with other students, hugged and prayed at two vigils for slain football player Jasper Howard.
Candles were placed at the spot where Howard was stabbed early Sunday morning in front of the student union after a fight broke out following a school-sponsored dance.
A memorial included flowers and a poster with the words “Live 365,” along with photographs of Howard playing football and socializing with friends.
Outside the team’s football complex, dozens of people joined hands Monday night and prayed. Desi Cullen, UConn’s punter and a team captain, led the crowd in prayer, then thanked them, saying it had been a tough day for players, who met with Howard’s family.
