ATLANTA (AP) -Former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe says this time he won’t skydive on to the field to receive his latest football honor.
Sharpe, a seven-time Pro Bowler and current NFL national television analyst, will return to his alma mater at Savannah State to have his No. 2 jersey retired Saturday before the Tigers’ game against Bethune-Cookman.
On Sept. 20, Sharpe parachuted onto Denver’s Invesco Field at Mile High before he was elected into the Broncos Ring of Fame.
No other player has worn Sharpe’s No. 2 since 1989. Sharpe is the first football player to have his jersey retired by Savannah State.
