TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -The NCAA is appealing an order to publicly release documents on academic cheating at Florida State to the state Supreme Court.
The college athletics organization filed a notice of appeal Wednesday.
According to a lawyer for The Associated Press and other media that sued the NCAA, this will not automatically block the release ordered by the 1st District Court of Appeal in a final ruling on Tuesday.
The documents concern Florida State’s appeal of a proposal to strip athletes and coaches of wins. That includes football coach Bobby Bowden who would lose 14 victories.
It would dim Bowden’s chances of catching Penn State’s Joe Paterno – the winningest coach in major college football.
