TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -Florida State has lost tight end Caz Piurowski for the season.
The 6-7, 270-pound senior from Land O’Lakes suffered torn ligaments in his right knee while blocking during Jermaine Thomas’ first quarter 3-yard touchdown run Saturday against Georgia Tech.
Florida State’s sports medicine director, Randy Oravetz, says Piurowski would have surgery sometime in the next week or two.
Piurowski was enjoying one of the best seasons in recent years for a Seminole tight end with 13 catches for 182 yards and two touchdowns.
Piurowski made 24 starts during his Florida State career, including the past 16 contests. Piurowski finishes his career with 33 receptions for 377 yards and three touchdowns.
