COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) – No. 24 Missouri and Colorado meet Saturday night on the 20th anniversary of the Buffaloes’ infamous Fifth Down victory.
The 1990 game propelled the Buffaloes to their only national championship and denied a huge upset bid to the Tigers. St. Louis Rams defensive coordinator Ken Flajole was an assistant coach at Missouri in 1990 and believes there were two bad calls, one for the extra down and one giving Charles Johnson the game-winning touchdown from the 1 for the win.
Players preparing for this week’s Big 12 opener have little interest in ancient history. Missouri (4-0) and Colorado (3-1) are trying to keep pace with No. 7 Nebraska in the division.
