LORETTO, Pa. (AP) -Jermaine Roberts caught a touchdown pass and ran for another score, as Central Connecticut State rolled to a 43-7 win over St. Francis, Pa., on Saturday.
Central Connecticut State (3-2, 1-0 in the Northeast Conference) scored twice in the first quarter to build a 13-0 lead. Roberts scored on a 28-yard run with 9:22 left in the quarter, and Adrian Hull scored on a 7-yard run with 3:01 left in the quarter.
The Blue Devils added two more touchdowns in the second quarter on passes by different quarterbacks. Ryan Holmes connected with Roberts on a 66-yard scoring pass with 7:56 left in the half. Backup Aubrey Norris added to the Blue Devils lead with a 24-yard touchdown pass to Nick Colagiovanni with 2:08 left in the half.
Central Connecticut State added 17 more points in the second half on a 25-yard field goal by Dennis Bien, a 20-yard run by Norris, and a 19-yard run by Jo Jo Freeman.
St. Francis (0-4, 0-2) scored its only points with 1:37 left in the game on a 3-yard pass from George Little to Ryan Zarnich.
Central Connecticut State accumulated 460 yards in total offense, including 302 on 53 rushing attempts. Norris led the Blue Devils with 81 yards on 7 carries.
St. Francis had 236 yards in total offense, but turned the ball over three times.
