LOS ANGELES (AP) – Just in case the UCLA Bruins start to feel too good about themselves after a three-game winning streak, tailback Johnathan Franklin knows a statistic that will keep his teammates humble.
The redshirt sophomore said Monday he’ll remind everybody that UCLA has never won four games in a row during his time at the school, which coincides with coach Rick Neuheisel’s tenure.
The Bruins (3-2, 1-1 Pac-10) have no reason to be satisfied after overcoming a second-half deficit to beat lowly Washington State last weekend at the Rose Bowl. Although UCLA is improbably back above .500 after a bumpy start, a tough trip to Berkeley looms this weekend.
Franklin and Neuheisel see progress, however. Franklin is the nation’s 10th-leading rusher out of the new Pistol offense.
