COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -A day after he criticized the Big Ten’s one-game suspension of safety Kurt Coleman for a late hit, Ohio State coach Jim Tressel doesn’t want to talk about it.
During his weekly news conference on Tuesday, Tressel said Coleman’s suspension and his comments on the conference’s decision were “yesterday’s news.”
Coleman, a starter and the Buckeyes’ second-leading tackler, was flagged for a late hit on Illinois backup quarterback Eddie McGee with less than a minute left and No. 9 Ohio State leading Illinois 30-0 on Saturday.
The conference reviewed the play and suspended Coleman for Saturday’s game at Indiana. Tressel, in a joint statement with Ohio State AD Gene Smith, accused the Big Ten of “poor judgment.”
