HOUSTON (AP) – Injured Houston quarterback Case Keenum hasn’t decided his future beyond having surgery on his mangled right knee.
Keenum said Tuesday he hasn’t ruled out trying to play one more season for the Cougars. To do so, he would have to petition the NCAA for a medical exception even though he’s supposed to graduate in December. Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday.
Keenum tore an anterior cruciate ligament trying to make a tackle in Houston’s 31-13 loss to UCLA on Sept. 18.
The fifth-leading passer in NCAA history could head to the NFL or try to eclipse Tim Chang’s college career mark of 17,072 yards. He’s 3,487 yards away. Keenum also needs 28 more touchdown passes to move past former Texas Tech star Graham Harrell’s NCAA record of 134.
