COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Lee Sweeney threw for 156 yards and two touchdowns, and Justin Vann returned one of his two interceptions 28 yards for a touchdown, leading Tennessee Tech past Central Methodist 47-19 Thursday.
Sweeney finished the game with 6-of-11 passing and two interceptions after missing last week’s game against Western Michigan with bruised ribs. Henry Sailes led the Golden Eagles (3-2) in rushing with 10 carries for 86 yards and two scores.
Central Methodist (1-3) scored twice on interceptions, including Ryan Boyer’s 61-yard return and Kelvin Bowser’s 41-yard return. The NAIA school (1-3) also recovered three fumbles.
Tennessee Tech’s defense held Central Michigan to 71 yards rushing and 106 passing. The Golden Eagle offense produced 195 yards rushing and 218 passing.
