STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) – Penn State cornerback D’Anton Lynn has been released from the hospital Saturday afternoon after being strapped to a backboard and carted off the field following a hit in the third quarter of the Nittany Lions’ 34-6 win over Eastern Michigan.
Lynn lay motionless face down on the field for several minutes as trainers attended to the senior, and the announced crowd of 95,000 fans at Beaver Stadium fell silent.
A team spokesman later said doctors examined Lynn’s neck and spinal column. Defensive coordinator Tom Bradley says Lynn suffered “burners” and initially was breathing heavily.
The Nittany Lions also lost leading tackler Michael Mauti after the linebacker injured the ACL in his left knee in the first quarter. Coach Joe Paterno says Mauti is likely done for the year.
