NCAAF Headline News

USC (2-0) at Oregon State (1-2), 9 p.m. Thursday (ESPN)
Line: USC by 25.
Series Record: USC leads 58-9-4.
Last Meeting: 2007, USC 24-3.
What's at Stake
The Trojans want to avoid trouble at Reser Stadium, where they've lost two of the last three games including a 33-31 Oregon State upset in 2006 that ended a 38-game regular season winning streak.
Key Matchup
USC's strong defense - the Trojans lead the nation in scoring defense, allowing 5 points per game - against Oregon State's developing offense, including freshman Jacquizz Rodgers, a diminutive and wily running back who Trojans coach Pete Carroll said is dangerous because ``he hides behind the line of scrimmage and comes popping out at you.''
Players to watch
USC: QB Mark Sanchez, who has thrown seven touchdowns in two games and has been the conference player of the week after both his outings.
Oregon State: QB Lyle Moevao, who is passing for 293.7 yards a game. Given that USC cornerback Shareece Wright is out with a hairline vertebra fracture, Moevao could take advantage.
Figures
Oregon State has defeated a top-ranked team just once, back in 1967 when the team nicknamed the Giant Killers upset the O.J. Simpson-led Trojans 3-0 in Corvallis. ... USC tailback Joe McKnight rushed 105 yards in the 35-3 victory over Ohio State despite a mysterious migraine, which could have been made worse by lights. ... It is ESPN's first broadcast of a football game from Corvallis.
