LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -Nebraska quarterback Zac Lee was on the sidelines with his left thumb wrapped, but coach Bo Pelini said that wasn’t the reason Lee didn’t practice Monday.
Pelini said Lee was on medication and instructed not to exert himself. The coach didn’t disclose why Lee was taking medicine.
As for the thumb on Lee’s non-throwing hand being wrapped, Pelini said it was “just a little splinter.”
Lee played the whole game in Saturday’s 16-15 loss at Virginia Tech, completing 11 of 30 passes for 136 yards, with two interceptions.
Freshman Cody Green worked with the No. 1 offense Monday, but Pelini said Lee would be the starter this week against Louisiana-Lafayette.
