PHOENIX (AP) – The Pac-12 has become known as a passing conference, and rightfully so, with all those star quarterbacks flinging the ball everywhere.
But in order to have success in this league, teams have to be able to run the ball, as some of the top teams have shown.
Fifth-ranked Stanford has been one of the best at keeping the balance, averaging 285 yards passing and 196 on the ground – a big reason why the Cardinal have won in three routs.
No. 10 Oregon is known for its wide-open attack, but the Ducks are one of the nation’s best rushing teams, ranking eighth with 261 yards per game. Cal also has good balance, helping the Golden Bears win their first three games.
