No. 21 West Virginia (1-1) at Colorado (2-0), 8:30 p.m. EDT, Thursday (ESPN)
Line: West Virginia by 3.
Series Record: First meeting.
What's at Stake
West Virginia had lots of time to think about its 24-3 loss to East Carolina on Sept. 6. The Mountaineers look to get back on track after tumbling in the polls after the loss. Meanwhile, the Buffaloes are trying to go 3-0 for first time since 2004.
Key Matchup
Colorado freshman Darrell Scott vs. West Virginia's defensive front. The highly touted Scott is searching for his first 100-yard game. The Mountaineers have always been stingy against the run, allowing only six 100-yard rushers in the last 40 games.
Players to watch
West Virginia: QB Pat White can make things happen with his fleet feet and dynamic arm. The Mountaineers are 14-1 he runs for at least 100 yards.
er lifted Colorado to a 31-24 win over Eastern Washington.
Figures
Colorado and West Virginia have something in common: Both were mentioned in songs by the late artist John Denver. West Virginia was featured by Denver's 1971 hit ``Take Me Home Country Roads'' while Colorado was featured in his '72 hit ``Rocky Mountain High.'' ... The Mountaineers haven't played in the state of Colorado since beating Colorado State, 52-24, on Sept. 13, 1980. ... The Buffaloes will host their first Thursday night game in 18 years.
