CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) – Kevin Olsen is no longer a Miami student.
The school announced Olsen’s departure on Tuesday, a day after the quarterback was arrested for DUI.
The 19-year-old Olsen never played for Miami. He was redshirted in 2013.
Olsen becomes the third player to leave Miami in recent months following an arrest. A pair of linebackers, Alex Figueroa and JaWand Blue, were dismissed in July after being charged with sexual battery against a student.
Miami coach Al Golden says he believes Olsen will have a bright future. Golden says Olsen, who was suspended for breaking team rules earlier this season, ”needs this time to look at himself and obviously move forward.”
Golden has known Olsen’s family for nearly two decades. Olsen’s brother Greg Olsen played at Miami before going to the NFL.
