PASADENA, Calif. (AP) – Texas has experienced a big chunk of its recent football history in the Rose Bowl, winning trophies and losing a national title in this fabled stadium in the past seven years alone.
The 23rd-ranked Longhorns are hoping their latest visit to Arroyo Seco is just a footnote in their rebuilding story.
Texas (2-0) visits UCLA (1-1) on Saturday on the same field where the Longhorns won the 2005 Rose Bowl against Michigan and took home the 2006 national title with a nail-biting victory over Southern California.
Texas also lost the BCS title game to Alabama in January 2010 in Pasadena.
Longhorns coach Mack Brown still remembers another personal lowlight in the Rose Bowl: UCLA thrashed Texas 49-31 in his second game at the school in 1998.
