FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) – Arkansas’ Joe Adams returned a pair of punts for touchdowns in the opener, and Marquel Wade followed that with a kickoff return for a touchdown last week.
The Razorbacks return duo has had plenty to celebrate so far this season, leading a unit that leads the Southeastern Conference in kickoff return average (40.7) and is second in punt return average (17.3).
Following Adams big game in an opening win over Missouri State, New Mexico purposely avoided the senior by kicking several punts out of bounds. That led to a chorus of boos from the hometown War Memorial Stadium Crowd.
It’s a strategy Razorbacks coach Bobby Petrino expects to Troy to use this week when the Trojans (0-1) visit No. 14 Arkansas (2-0).
