NORMAN, Okla. (AP) – Coach Bob Stoops doesn’t expect leading tackler Travis Lewis to be able to play this Saturday night for No. 1 Oklahoma against fifth-ranked Florida State.
Lewis would have had to return weeks earlier than expected from a broken left big toe to play against the Seminoles (2-0). He was re-evaluated Monday, and Stoops said after practice that Lewis is “trying to see how it feels and loosening the ankle up, so he’s a long way from playing.”
Lewis has led the Sooners (1-0) in tackles the last three seasons. He was injured in practice on Aug. 8 and expected to miss eight weeks.
