BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -Vanderbilt offensive lineman James Williams was carted off the field with a serious leg injury during the third quarter of the Commodores’ game at LSU on Saturday night.
The 6-foot-6, 310-pound right tackle got tangled up in a pile of players near the line of scrimmage when he was hurt. Williams was unable to get up and the game was delayed about five minutes while medical staff immobilized his left leg and used a stretcher to lift him onto a cart.
Williams, a sophomore, is a first-year starter. He was replaced by freshman Caleb Welchans.
