TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) – Missouri overcame a sluggish offense to win its opener.
Next comes the real test.
After escaping with a win over Miami of Ohio, the 21st-ranked Tigers move on to face Arizona State on what’s expected to be a steamy Friday night in the desert.
The Sun Devils rolled over UC Davis in their opener and will be playing in front of a “Blackout,” with 70,000-or-so fans dressed in black to honor the team’s new uniforms.
Missouri will have its hands full with Arizona State’s fast, hard-hitting defense and will be without two starting offensive linemen, along with running back Kendial Lawrence, who broke his leg last week.
The Tigers also will be missing two starters on defense against a team that rolled up over 500 yards last week.
