MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -Mississippi defensive end Greg Hardy was helped off the field early in Sunday’s game against Memphis after injuring his left leg.
Memphis wide receiver Duke Calhoun hit Hardy with a cut block in the leg on a running play. It is unclear if Hardy will return for the No. 8 Rebels, who led 3-0 when the senior was hurt.
Hardy spent the last year trying to rehabilitate a broken bone in his right foot. The former all-Southeastern Conference player played in parts of nine games last season and still finished with 8.5 sacks.
He also was in a car wreck over the summer that forced him back into a hard boot on the injured right foot, but was able to return for the season opener.
