LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) -Dezmon Briscoe, who set a school record for yards receiving last year but was suspended throughout spring practice, was one of four players held out of Saturday night’s season opener by No. 25 Kansas.
Also held out against Northern Colorado were wide receiver Raimond Pendleton, defensive tackle Jamal Greene and defensive end Jeff Wheeler, all reserves.
A school spokesman said they were all suspended for violation of unspecified team rules.
Briscoe set the Jayhawks’ record with 1,407 yards receiving in 2008. There was no indication if he would play next week. A preseason All-Big 12 selection, Briscoe had 15 touchdowns last year and is expected to form a formidable pass-catching duo along with senior Kerry Meier.
He was replaced in the lineup by freshman Bradley McDougald
