MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) – The game between No. 24 West Virginia and Marshall has been stopped temporarily due to thunderstorms, the latest college football contest to have weather delays on the first weekend of the season.
Fans were told to leave their seats Sunday midway through the third quarter with West Virginia leading 27-13.
It marked the fourth stadium to be cleared due to storms that started Saturday in the Midwest.
Michigan’s home game with Western Michigan was called in the third quarter Saturday.
Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Ind., was evacuated twice before the game between the Fighting Irish and South Florida was completed.
Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa, was cleared during the Hawkeyes game’ with Tennessee Tech and Tennessee’s home game against Montana was delayed at the start 93 minutes.
Eastern Michigan postponed its home game from Saturday night to Sunday due to storms.
