CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -North Carolina receiver Dwight Jones will be out two to three weeks after having knee surgery.
The school had announced that the sophomore would miss the opener against The Citadel on Saturday, though it was unclear how long he would be out. He had missed practice Wednesday, then had arthroscopic surgery to deal with pain in his right knee Friday.
Jones was expected to start opposite Greg Little for the No. 21 Tar Heels, who are trying to replace three receivers who went on to become NFL draft picks.
