PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) – Washington State starting quarterback Jeff Tuel suffered a fractured left clavicle during the first quarter of the season opening game against Idaho State on Saturday.
Tuel did not start the game because of a stomach virus, but played one series late in the first quarter, leading WSU to a field goal. It was not immediately clear when he was injured.
Team spokesman Bill Stevens said it is not known how long Tuel will be out of action.
Tuel, a junior, threw for 2,780 yards and 18 touchdowns last season. His backup is senior Marshall Lobbestael.
