COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – South Carolina linebacker Rodney Paulk says Saturday’s game with East Carolina won’t be much different than the first 44 he’s played, even if his brother Leonard plays defensive back for the Pirates.
It’s the first time the Paulks, former high school teammates, will go up against each other. No. 12 South Carolina opens the season against East Carolina on Saturday night at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
Older brother Rodney says he and Leonard discussed the matchup as soon as they learned about the game. But there’s little trash talk, no family bets – just a focus on what each must do to help their team succeed this weekend.
The two were on a Richland Northeast High team in 2005 that reached the state championship game.
