BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson says he’s been dreaming about scoring touchdowns in his newly added role as kick and punt returner.
Coach Les Miles says it’s become apparent that Peterson is among the best athletes on the team and needs more chances to make plays with the ball, even if that means exposing the Tigers’ top pass defender to some of the high-speed collisions that occur on special teams.
North Carolina coach Butch Davis says Peterson is obviously one of the best cornerbacks in all of college football and that it’s probably a wise move to make him a return man as well.
Peterson gets that chance when LSU and North Carolina open their seasons against one another in Atlanta on Saturday night.
